Based on a recent study, 92.1% of men believe that women wear "too much makeup". But, what exactly is "too much"? Grab a mirror and take a good look at yourself. Here are some tips to make sure you are wearing just the right amount.
1. During the day, at work or at school, you should be wearing minimal makeup. You really don't need alot. The motto I like to go for is "if you can see that you are wearing makeup, you are wearing too much." And, it's so true. Even if you're trying to get the attention of some gorgeous employee or the hottest guy in school... they prefer natural makeup too!
2. If you are going out at night with someone, it's okay to step it up a notch. The basic rule to go by, is to pick either your lips, or your eyes. Don't play up both, or else you'll run the very high risk of looking like a clown. (Yes, as beautiful as she is, Ms. Aguilera could go much lighter). So, pick your focal point. If you choose your eyes, try a smoky eye (I'll have a blog post coming soon on how to master it). Brown or gray will look beautiful. For your lips, do a soft gloss, or a neutral shade of lipstick. Also, go very light on the blush. If you choose to play up your lips, wear a red, or a very flattering berry shade. This will accentuate your smoochers like never before. Make sure to wear very light eye shadow and just a tad of mascara. Skip the eyeliner (but, if you must, use very light brown). You can go a bit heavier on the blush, but, blush is supposed to be extremely natural, so i don't suggest it.
3. Lastly, most women and girls don't know the origin of makeup. Makeup was created not to create a mask over your beautiful face with, but to enhance your features. Eyeliner was meant to make your lashline look thicker, and mascara was meant the make your lashes longer. It's okay to step it up once in a while, but, try to remember. Your goal should be to look like you. Beautiful, attractive, lucky you. No one else.
